Collect the nightly export without an AWS account

Open the bucket like a folder, download the file, get on with the analysis.

Before Fenwavedaily waiting

“Could someone send me yesterday’s orders export? It lands in s3://analytics-prod/exports/ but I do not have console access”

What the wait costs

A recurring interruption for an engineer and a recurring delay for an analyst, repeated every working day of the year.

Capability

Object Storage

Analysts are not blocked by difficulty here — they are blocked by a credential. Fenwave puts the bucket behind a file browser and grants the analyst read access to that storage connection alone. No AWS account is created, no access key is issued, and the download is recorded in the audit log under the analyst’s own name.

How it works

  1. 01An administrator registers the bucket once as a storage connection.
  2. 02The analyst is granted read access to that connection only.
  3. 03They open Object Storage and browse the prefix like a folder tree.
  4. 04Download the file. The action is written to the audit log.
